Margot Dent

Margot moved to Greystoke in 2013, having lived in Culgaith for 16 years. Her career at this stage was in the Voluntary Sector starting with VAC, now ACT, Eden CVS, Cumbria Housing Trust, LA21, now Cafs. She was made redundant in 2016 and now works part time for Birds’ Bistro. She has a dog and loves walking reading and sewing

Margot at present helps with admin for the group.

Ian Forrest

Ian and his wife Liz have lived in Greystoke since retirement in 2000. Two of their three children and one granddaughter live locally.

After an apprenticeship in the drawing office of a Tyneside shipyard and a university degree in naval architecture, he spent the next 34 years in education, becoming head of a rural comprehensive school and later an H.M. inspector of schools, pre-Ofsted. Although mainly based in the UK, his first teaching post was in an East African school and his final job was in Germany, as a deputy chief Executive in the organisation that
ran schools for service personnel posted abroad.

Since moving to Greystoke Ian has renovated two houses, initially undertaking much of the work himself but increasingly calling on the skills and experience of local tradespeople, for whom he has a great regard.

Ian is passionate about energy efficient homes, having recently upgraded his bungalow to something approaching Passivhaus standards. Within the Affordable Housing group, he is leading our approach to flooding resilience.
